UNXPECTED Saturday: Perrotin x Daniel Arsham - 20 years of collaboration

On Saturday 02/09/2023, Galerie Perrotin inaugurated a double exhibition in Paris and New York in the presence of Daniel Arsham, to mark the 20th anniversary of the artist's collaboration with Emmanuel Perrotin. Daniel Arsham presented for the first time several series of works reflecting the evolution of his artistic practice over the past two decades.

Renowned for his visual transformation of cultural objects into subtly eroded artifacts, Daniel Arsham confronts us with the power of nostalgia by amalgamating past, present and future. In these exhibitions, the artist returns to his oeuvre to examine and reflect on his long-standing appreciation of the complexities of materiality and space.

At the invitation of Vanessa, Perottin's dir.com, we attended the opening of the exhibition and the signing of a book of Daniel Arsham's sketches. Our visit in a Porsche in the heart of Paris was greatly appreciated by Daniel Arsham and the public present, with whom we exchanged views on Jeff's 911 3.2, my 997 GTS, Bruno's 991 4S and Pascal's Boxster 718....

UNXPECTED had two surprises in store for participants:

• the presence of Porsche Carrera Cup driver Arthur Mathieu, who drives a 992 Cup ArtCar decorated with Daniel Arsham. He was on hand to have his helmet signed by the artist. This is not Arthur Mathieu's first visit to the show, as over the past 2 seasons, his cars have already been sublimated by Arthur Kar and Bernar Venet.
• Vanessa's invitation, after the vernissage, to the private party organized in a private hotel near the Galerie, in the presence of artist Daniel Arsham and numerous personalities from the Paris art world.
