weekend in Champagne 2024

Reims - Epernay

Epicurean weekend among the vines

Originally from Metz, since I've been driving a Porsche, I've got into the habit of avoiding the A4 freeway and getting lost on pretty departmental roads, discovering little-known villages or forgotten basilicas like Notre-Dame de l'Épine.

With this roadtrip, I'm taking us to discover this region, which I particularly appreciate for its landscapes, its champagne and its gastronomy. And as with every UNXPECTED road trip, this weekend will be punctuated by some wonderful encounters:

  • Jean-Francois, friends of the Gueux circuit, invites us to breakfast on the circuit. Eric de la Bruyere, photographer will take photos of our cars on the site and on the starting line, which is now closed to the public, with the authorization of the amicale.
  • Jean-Philippe, saddler recognized by Porsche classics enthusiasts, who has refurbished the interiors of several 911 RS 2.7s from the Club RS de France and a magnificent 911 2.4 S targa "Berlutti" sold in 2019 at Sotheby's, he will tell us about the restorations in progress.
  • Emmanuel, aeronaut, with With 25 years' experience and over 2,000 hours' flying time, he'll be welcoming us aboard his aircraft to share his passion for the lighter-than-air world.

This trip promises to be a unique experience not only for Porsche enthusiasts, but also for all those passionate about the Champagne region who want to discover little-known places and make unforgettable encounters.

Capacity for this road trip: 8 cars max / 2 passengers per car. The detailed program will be sent to each participant after registration.

Gueux circuit

The Friends of the Circuit de Gueux are an association with three main aims: to maintain the legend of the Circuit, to safeguard its infrastructure, and to welcome vintage vehicles and all circuit enthusiasts to the site. They will welcome us to the site for a convivial breakfast and show us the restoration work in progress.

We'll also enjoy a private photo shoot on the circuit's start line by Eric Delabruyère.

Roadbook through the vineyards

The road books for this weekend in the middle of the vineyards have been drawn up with local knowledge. But at UNXPECTED, we like the unexpected, and these routes will be interspersed with stops to discover the local heritage. Saturday will also take place in rally mode, with paper roadbooks to perpetuate the tradition of regularity rallies.

Bubbles

Private tour of the cellars, vineyards and tastings of the finest vintages at a leading Champagne House.

Château de Sacy

In the heart of the magnificent vineyards of Champagne-Ardenne, just a few kilometers from Reims, lies Château de Sacy. Reflecting its refined decor, the de Sacy restaurant offers elegant, authentic local cuisine. Chef Andy Bouglé takes care every day to select the finest local produce from the Champagne region, and magnifies it in his creations that modernize regional gastronomy. Enjoy the sunset and the majestic view of the surrounding vineyards from the restaurant.

LOISIUM Wine & Spa Hotel ****

For a luxurious, calm and sensual stay in the heart of nature, we'll be staying at the LOISIUM hotel, set in an exceptional natural setting between forest and "sea of vines". This establishment, which combines design and ecology, boasts a heated outdoor swimming pool, a Spa (sauna & hammam area, treatment rooms, gym), a champagne bar and a magnificent restaurant. with panoramic views over the vineyards.

Prestige room (23 m2)

Atelier Jean-Philippe Duval

We'll visit the workshop of Jean-Philippe Duval, the best saddler specialized in the world of Classic Porsches and Compagnon du Devoir. He has restored the interiors of numerous Porsches, from 356s to 911 2.7 RSs. We're sure he'll tell us about his work on a magnificent Porsche 911 2.4S, which paid tribute to the heritage and savoir-faire of the Parisian luxury house Berluti, and in particular to its unique Venezia leatherwork, enhanced by a deliciously amber patina...
